If you are like me, I find it much easier to manage numbers and budgets in an Excel Spreadsheet.
The price sheet or Addendum / Endorsement PDF that your designer gives you is not easy to work with. I have a paid version of Acrobat, and it will not convert it correctly to an Excel document.
ChatGBT helped me build the simple to use executable that will convert the PDF to a normal Excel document as well as a CSV if you use some other spreadsheet.
Your web browser may show a warning that says something like “This type of file can harm your computer”. That’s normal.
In Chrome: click Keep.
In Edge: click Keep anyway.
Click the yellow folder icon (File Explorer) on your taskbar.
On the left side, click Downloads.
You will see a file called PDF_LineItem_Converter.exe.
Double-click PDF_LineItem_Converter.exe.
If Windows shows a blue box that says “Windows protected your PC”:
Click More info.
Then click Run anyway.
A small window will appear.
Click Select PDF(s) and choose the PDF your builder or designer sent you.
The program will create a new Excel file (.XLSX) in the same folder as the PDF.
The new file will have the same name as the PDF but end with .xlsx.
Example: if your PDF is ChangeOrder.pdf, the Excel file will be ChangeOrder_parsed.xlsx.
Go back to the folder where your PDF is saved.
Double-click the new Excel file to open it.
Please close Excel before running the converter, otherwise the program can’t overwrite an existing file.
You can also drag your PDF file directly onto the converter icon in your Downloads folder — the program will run automatically.
